From Mother Vicki

Annual Parish Meeting, February 24, 2019
"The Church's one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord;
she is his new creation by water and the word:
from heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride;
with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died."
Hymn 525, Words by Samuel John Stone (1839-1900)

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

This is your official notification that the date for the 2018 Annual Parish Meeting for Saint John’s Episcopal Church is Sunday, February 24, 2019, at noon.  In this important meeting we elect a new Junior Warden and new Vestry members, receive the Annual Report for 2018, share news of our challenges, hopes and dreams, and rejoice in all the ways in which God has blessed us this past year!

With the Class of 2022 we will have a slate of 4 new Vestry Members, plus the possibility of adding Associate Vestry as we did this past year.  Associate Vestry attend meetings and can express opinions but have no official vote.  This is a way for more people to experience the workings of the Vestry, prepares them for possible leadership roles and allows the Vestry to have a richer and more diverse conversation about what God is calling us to do.

For 2019 we will be electing one Warden for a term of 2 years, and 4 Vestry Members for terms of 3 years. The Vestry attend monthly evening meetings and are active in service utilizing their various gifts and talents.  Pray that God will inspire us to choose persons of deep faith who care about the future of Saint John's.

You are eligible to vote if you are at least 18 years old, regularly attend worship and have contributed financially to the parish for the last 12 months.  Using the form by the front door of the church, please suggest names for these positions to the nominating committee.  The form contains the qualifications for the candidates.  Please return this form as soon as possible, but no later than Sunday, February 10, 2019. Please keep in mind characteristics that would be ideal for the Vestry.  We seek people of prayer who are faithful in worship and service, are compassionate and generous, creative, wise and joyful.  It is also helpful to have members of the Vestry who are gifted in different areas and who may possess business acumen, financial expertise, involvement in service industries and non-profits, creative arts, web design, etc.

We are very grateful for those who have served so faithfully this past year, including the Vestry Class of 2019 Chris Canty and Jen Longley, and Deborah DeBride, our joyous Senior Warden.  May God bless them richly for their service and may God lift up new nominees for these important leadership roles.

In Christ and with love,
The Rev. Canon Victoria R. Sirota
