Welcoming Anglican and Episcopal Delegates to the
United Nations Commission on the Status of Women
The 63rd session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) takes place March 11-22, 2019, in New York City. You are invited to worship with the Anglican Communion and Episcopal Church delegates as the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine and Bishop Andrew ML Dietsche welcome them to this special Evensong, with Bishop Mary Glasspool preaching,
Since 1946, the UNCSW has convened annually to promote women’s rights in political, economic, civil, social and educational fields, and to make recommendations to the members nations on urgent problems facing women and girls. Anglican and Episcopal women and men, girls and boys have been involved with UNCSW since its beginnings and in recent years have had a strong presence. This year, the Anglican Communion will bring eight accredited delegates, and the Episcopal Church will bring nine, to UNCSW. One of the delegates is from our diocese, the Rev. Martha Korienek, Interim Rector of Grace Church, Hastings on Hudson.
Please support the delegates by your prayer, and come to greet them at the Evensong. If you wish to learn more about the topics being addressed at the year's gathering, you can read the Episcopal Church's written statement for this UNCSW.
