From Mother Vicki

Collect for the Fourth Sunday in Lent
Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

The Fourth Sunday in Lent is also called Refreshment Sunday, or Laetare Sunday.  We are now in the middle of Lent, and we’re allowed to relax a bit before our final intense journey towards Holy Week.
Our Saint John’s Festival Choir begins again with Wednesday afternoon rehearsals in the Church on April 3, 10 and 17 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.  Please join us!

We are using Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s materials on “The Way of Love” for our Lenten Study.  This gentle and loving course will help deepen your devotion and ways of thinking about God, yourself and others.  Please feel free to join us for two Thursday evenings on April 4 and 11 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the Church Office.  If you can let me know that you are coming, we will have enough materials on hand (mothervsirota@gmail.com; 914 969 2969).

This week I am on retreat at Saint Margaret’s Convent in Duxbury MA.  These Episcopal sisters have been a wonderful source of spiritual help for me since 1990.  Thanks to The Rev. Canon Claudia Wilson who is the celebrant and preacher for our Wednesday Mass and Bible Study on Wednesday, March 27.

May your Lenten journey to the cross and beyond be blessed in wondrous ways!

Lenten blessings and love,
The Rev. Canon Victoria R. Sirota
